SHARE is now Integrated with King Medical Clinics’ eMDs EMR System in Ashdown Arkansas

Wed, 08/07/2019 - 08:00 -- Whitney Mayo

Little Rock, Arkansas – August 2019 The State Health Alliance for Records Exchange (SHARE), Arkansas’ only statewide health information exchange (HIE) is connected to King Medical Clinic in Ashdown, Arkansas.

Through this interface connection with SHARE, King Medical Clinic is now able to utilize this technological infrastructure to securely transfer patient lab tests, diagnosis, medical history, discharge summaries, social determinants of health (SDOH), lab results, medications, immunizations, vitals and allergies to its network of healthcare providers. This aids in making proper diagnoses, reduces delays in treatment and eliminates redundant testing if a patient is referred to another health care provider.

SHARE is also routing the King Medical Clinic the results of their patients’ lab results, diagnosis, discharge summaries, medications from other facilities, such as Arkansas Children’s Hospital, UAMS, Howard Memorial Hospital, CHI St. Vincent, Arkansas Urology that are on a different electronic medical record (EMR) system into the patient’s chart in their eMDs system.

SHARE aggregates health data from many major health systems and provider practices across the state of Arkansas. The HIE is designed to reduce instances of redundant care by ensuring providers have a complete, holistic view of patient care when making clinical decisions.

King Medical Clinic is also now able to automatically submit immunization records to the Arkansas Immunization Information System (WEBIZ) through SHARE. By having this connection, duplicate entry of immunizations is eliminated, allowing for the care team to focus on the patient.  The care coordinators at King Medical Clinic are accessing SHAREs’ Virtual Health Record (VHR) as well. The SHARE VHR aggregates patients records outside of their eMDs EMR system enabling more accurate diagnoses, faster and more effective treatment, and better outcomes for the patient.

Additionally, SHARE provides access to 24-hour daily reports notifying the primary care clinic providers and care coordinators when their Arkansas Medicaid patients are admitted and discharged from the emergency department and inpatient discharges in real time to assist in meeting the 72-hour follow-up metric.
