Lab Results from LabCorp Now Available Through SHARE HIE

Little Rock, Arkansas September 14, 2021 – SHARE, the State Health Alliance for Records Exchange, announced today that LabCorp is now connected to its health information exchange (HIE), and as a result one of the largest medical laboratories is now participating in the network that links health care providers throughout the state.

Lab reports are vital for clinical decision making and are significant components of a patient’s longitudinal health record. Providers need quick access to results to develop treatment plans and better communicate with patients. LabCorp, the fastest growing lab in the U.S., is a progressive company that understands how health information exchange (HIE) supports providers as they coordinate care for patients.

Because of this commitment to enhancing patient care, LabCorp has connected its electronic systems to the SHARE HIE. Here in Arkansas, hospitals, physician practices, outpatient clinics and long-term care providers can now use their EHR connection to SHARE to access results from LabCorp. This is in addition to the lab results already being sent into the HIE by hospitals and clinics throughout Arkansas.

“The nation’s leading medical labs and the hospital labs recognize that delivering patient results through a statewide electronic health information exchange not only helps improve patient care, but also helps keep the costs of technology low for providers,” says Anne Santifer, HIT Director, Office of Health Information Technology. “We appreciate LabCorp’s commitment to support the needs of both health care providers and patients in Arkansas.”

LabCorp’s connection to SHARE represents yet another milestone as the state of Arkansas continues to embrace HIE and all that it has to offer both providers and their patients.
