Mainline Health Systems, Inc. has expanded into Warren and Bradley County staffed by Dr. Kerry Pennington and Dr. Joe Wharton. Little Rock– The Arkansas Department of Health's (ADH) network of Local Health Units (LHU) is now using the State Health Alliance for Records Exchange (SHARE), one of the country's largest and most robust health information exchanges (HIE). LHUs can now access clinical information across participating entities for patients who have authorized sharing their medical information, allowing clinics to have accurate and up to date results for their patients.

There are 93 clinics across the state, including at least one in every county in the state. They provide prenatal care, family planning, annual exams, maternity care, breast care, immunizations, sexually transmitted disease testing and community outreach.

In Arkansas, where many health systems use disparate EHR systems, this is a particularly important milestone. SHARE will allow Local Health Unit providers access to a variety of test results and medical records as well as discharge summaries from outside hospitals and specialty clinics within their Greenway EMR System. SHARE's VHR display information as a traditional clinical chart, with tabs to separate patient information into groups for easy chart review. VHR retrieves and shows all available data for a selected patient gathered form all participants within SHARE to enable a single, consolidated view of a patient's health history.

The care team can now view the following patient data through SHARE’s eCW interface and access historical patient health information through the SHARE Virtual Health Record to include:

Little Rock,  Arkansas  October  2019  – The  State  Health  Alliance  for Records Exchange (SHARE) announces a continued partnership with St. Bernards Five Rivers Medical Center in a groundbreaking move, allowing for secure sharing of patient medical records with other SHARE connected physicians and providers throughout Pocahontas, Arkansas and surrounding communities.

Five Rivers Medical Center first opened its doors on October 23, 1950 as Randolph County Memorial Hospital. The idea for a hospital in the county, was born out of the Pocahontas Kiwanis Club and was fulfilled after the land was donated by Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Baltz Sr. From 1950 until 1980, the hospital was located at the current location of Randolph County Nursing Home on Hospital Drive. The hospital opened with 32 beds which was outgrown quickly. In 1972, an additional 10 beds were added to aid with the rapid expansion of services provided.

The hospital’s current location was opened in 1980 and was licensed for 50 beds and the name was changed to Randolph County Medical Center.  At that time, it included an OB and Nursery as well as three large surgical Suites. In August 1992, the Senior Care Unit went into operation.   Television and Radio star Art Linkletter attended the opening ceremonies. Since opening, the Senior Care program has served over 4000 patients and conducted free screenings for over 6000. In December 2000, the four-bed emergency room was updated to a state-of-the-art seven-bed emergency department.

In 2007, the hospital’s name was changed to Five Rivers Medical Center due to new City Ownership. In 2011, the Arkansas Department of Health Trauma Section awarded the Emergency Room with a Level 4 Trauma Designation. Also, in 2011, the Emergency Room became affiliated with the UAMS AR Saves Stroke Care program. This program allows the ER to be connected with a Neurologist quickly via Telemedicine should a patient present with Stroke symptoms.

In 2019, Five Rivers Medical Center became St. Bernards Five Rivers after the health system began leasing the facility. St. Bernards Five Rivers currently offers acute inpatient care, intensive care, emergency services, diagnostics and radiology, surgery, and IV therapy, as well as rehabilitation services and senior behavioral health care in Pocahontas, Arkansas.

Seven federal-qualified community health center sites will now have access to real-time electronic patient data to better serve their patient population in Central Arkansas

All seven JCCSI locations have connected with the State Health Alliance for Records Exchange (SHARE). SHARE is the only statewide health information exchange (HIE) in Arkansas that facilitates the secure exchange of patient health information among hospitals, physicians, clinicians and other members of the medical community.

The new site offers the homeless population more access to quality health care because of its proximity to the resource center.  With this new partnership, JCCSI will be able to safely exchange patient medical records with any organization on the SHARE system, which will help improve care coordination and lead to better health outcomes.

The State Health Alliance for Records Exchange (SHARE) announces a continued partnership McGehee Hospital in an innovative move that allows the secure sharing of patient medical records with other SHARE connected physicians and providers in the Arkansas delta region of McGehee.

The continued partnership with McGhee Hospital allows for the secure flow of McGehee Hospital patient data to SHARE, Arkansas’ only statewide health information exchange (HIE). This connection also includes the McGehee Family Clinic. Health care providers in Desha County and neighboring counties can securely access medical records through SHARE. Patient records are available around the clock and in real-time, enhancing patient care in the delta region. Patients of McGehee Hospital and McGehee Family Clinic benefit from a higher quality of care as a result of this connection. Now caregivers, family doctors, emergency room physicians, specialists, pharmacies and long-term care facilities can have secure, HIPAA-compliant access to patient records in real time as a SHARE participant.

SHARE is integrated with hospital and clinic electronic health record (EHR) systems, CPSI. They are sending admission, discharge and transfer (ADT) information, laboratory results, radiology reports, discharge summaries, vitals, allergies, diagnosis and conditions to assist in better care coordination and transitions of care. 

SHARE is also assisting in real-time 30-day readmissions. The 30-day readmission notification project allows the hospital to receive a secure message notification when a patient that discharged from their facility, was readmitted into any SHARE participating hospital within a 30-day timeframe.

Additionally, SHARE provides access to 24-hour daily reports notifying the primary care clinic providers and care coordinators when their Arkansas Medicaid patients are admitted and discharged from the emergency department and inpatient discharges in real time.  The care teams are also accessing clinical information across participating entities for patients who have authorized sharing their medical information through SHARE’s Virtual Health Record and Secure Messaging.
