They will have access to 24 Hour Daily Reports on Arkansas Medicaid Patients when patients are admitted/discharged from emergency room and inpatient discharges. They will also have access to the SHARE Virtual Health Record enabling more accurate diagnoses, faster and more effective treatment, and better outcomes for the patient.
Best Start Pediatrics is also part of the Arkansas Children’s Care Network (ACCN) that is the nation’s first statewide pediatric Clinically Integrated Network (CIN) to help measurably elevate the quality of health care for kids in Arkansas, which SHARE also partners. This selective physician-led partnership of providers collaborate to deliver evidence-based care, improve quality, efficiency, coordination of care, and demonstrate value to the market.
The clinic will also begin sharing data through an interface with eCW electronic medical record (EMR) system, which features a robust patient query and response functionality that will allow the providers to quickly access patient health data from hospitals, physician practices, state health systems and more. This includes records such as medical history, previous diagnoses, lab tests, medications, continuity of care documents (CCDs), immunizations, vitals and allergies. Additionally, SHARE provides access to 24-hour daily reports notifying the pediatric clinic providers and care coordinators when their Arkansas Medicaid patients are admitted and discharged from the emergency department and inpatient discharges.
As the health care landscape continues to transform, HIEs continue to play a key role in providing data that fuels innovation. SHARE and Best Start Pediatrics are working together to contribute to these innovation efforts such as population health initiatives, assisting with high-risk patients and identifying potential social determinants of health.
About Best Start Pediatrics
They welcome the chance to meet expecting parents. They offer a free visit to their clinic with an opportunity to sit down one on one with Dr. Averitt and ask questions. These visits usually last 10-15 minutes. They typically schedule them first thing in the afternoon before the clinic gets busy with afternoon appointments. Most prospective parents come in to meet them during their third trimester, but anytime during pregnancy is fine. They are also happy to meet with parents who are adopting. This is a great opportunity to locate the clinic, meet the staff, ask your questions, pick up new patient paperwork and make sure Best Start Pediatrics is a good fit for families.
At a patient’s first visit they will be gathering information about the pregnancy, delivery, family and social circumstances, and addressing the patient’s concerns. They will be assessing baby’s weight and hydration and checking for jaundice. They are very supportive of parent’s feeding plan and hope to help them successfully breast feed.
During infancy they will see the parents and baby for several regular visits. They have a schedule of well checkups that will allows the clinic to make sure the baby is growing and developing well. These occur at intervals that correlate with the vaccine schedule so that vaccines can be provided at these visits when indicated. They understand that vaccinations can create lots of anxiety for patients and their families. Their providers are very knowledgeable about vaccines and are happy to discuss any concerns the parents may have.
It is their goal to make sure every child will receive the necessary services to have a full and healthy life.

Health care providers in Baxter County and surrounding northern communities in Arkansas and Missouri continue to securely access patient health records from Baxter Regional Medical Center (BRMC) located in Mountain Home, Arkansas through SHARE, Arkansas’ only statewide health information exchange (HIE). The data sharing builds a more complete medical record for communities and individuals. With the connection to the HIE, it results in fewer repeated tests, better diagnosis and monitoring of chronic conditions and a more comprehensive patient health record.
Hospitals carry a large proportion of the burden to reduce the cost of care. They must find strategies to reduce or avoid unnecessary hospitalizations and eliminate the over-utilization of emergency room services, cutting costs, and focusing on patients with a truly emergent need. Access to comprehensive health information is necessary to overcome these challenges. Having access to robust health data in SHARE offers insights that can be used to flag medication use and abuse, identify gaps in care management, enable the development of comprehensive discharge plans, and increase the odds the patient will receive consistent follow-up care in an outpatient setting.
Sharing timely clinical patient information, such as admission, discharge and transfer information (ADTs), lab results, radiology results, progress notes, medications, immunizations and discharge summaries among physicians outside of the hospital with disparate electronic health record (EHR) systems relies upon a connection to an HIE. Through the connection with Baxter Regional Medical Center, HIE participants can access patient data where the patient received care. Sharing of this timely information will improve clinical outcomes, reduce inefficiencies and improve patient safety.
Over the years, Baxter Regional Medical Center has quietly and efficiently built a national reputation for quality health care and advanced medical technology. That reputation and the quality community has attracted highly trained, specialized and experienced physicians to make Mountain Home their home.
